Extensively played and well documented all over YouTube and various instructional videos, this was Oz’s main guitar for several years late ‘00’s/early ‘10s. I pleaded with Oz to sell me this guitar about 5 years back when I was taking lessons from him. I wanted, once and for all, to determine what a great Strat, played by one of my favorite all-time tone purveyors, could feel/play/sound like in my hands.
This Stratocaster has one of the best maple necks I have ever touched. Sort of a very soft V on top into a comfortable U as you get closer to body, but not too large or small Oz had It impeccably refret before he dove into it with StewMac #0154 fret wire [.10” x .05”]. This makes a huge difference in playability for this style and it carries the .11-.48 string set we have on there perfectly. It sports the original Custom Shop pickups, with a bass plate on treble pu. These are the exact pickups used to record the Fuzzy album, which Guitar Player magazine September 2014 issue cited as their favorite Strat tone of 2007. Later on he experimented with Abby’s with Fralin rewinds etc, but these pickups always made it back into the guitar and are in fact the tones you hear on those recordings.
Comes with COA, build date 9/11/2006 and Letter of Authenticity signed by Oz. I have many more pictures to share of the guitar and him playing it, please hit us up if you would like to see them.
Comes with a newer Fender tweed case, as I originally bought it in a gig bag. Weight is 7 lbs 10 oz.
We could attach plenty of videos of this actual guitar, but like so many tones we couldn’t decide on which one! Feel free to research it on YouTube to your hearts content. You won’t be disappointed with this one.
